AMC 10 Preparation Course (10A & 10B)

1-on-1 or Group Classes

About the AMC 10 Examination (10A & 10B)

The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 10 is a premier 75-minute, 25-question multiple-choice examination designed for high school students in the 10th grade and below. It is a strictly no-calculator test that assesses computational speed, accuracy, and advanced logical frameworks. Qualifying for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) requires a student to consistently solve high-level problems at an average rate of 3 minutes per question.

The exam is offered on two distinct dates: the 10A and the 10B. Both versions maintain equal difficulty and topic distribution. Serious competitors leverage both test dates to maximize their probability of meeting the strict AIME qualification threshold.

Expert Instruction: Rohan Kumar Singh

This intensive program is exclusively designed and led by Rohan Kumar Singh, holding a Masters under Advanced Mathematical Science. Moving away from standard, passive school lectures, his teaching methodology focuses on aggressive, targeted skill-building, structural logic, and data-driven problem-solving strategies essential for national-level competitions.

Comprehensive AMC 10 Modules & Syllabus

The curriculum is engineered around the core pillars of competitive mathematics, ensuring every concept tested on the AMC 10 is systematically covered and practically applied.

Module 1: Advanced Algebra & Sequences

This module builds the foundation for complex algebraic manipulation, moving far beyond standard high school curriculums.

  • Core Algebra: Solving complex linear and quadratic systems, absolute value functions, and completing the square.
  • Polynomials & Roots: Deep dive into Vieta’s formulas, the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra, rational root theorem, and polynomial division algorithms.
  • Sequences & Series: Arithmetic and geometric progressions, infinite series, telescoping series, and special finite series computation.
  • Advanced Functions: Floor and ceiling functions, fractional part functions, logarithms, and uniquely defined functions.

Module 2: Competitive Geometry

Focuses on synthetic and analytic geometry, requiring students to visualize and calculate without relying on scale drawings.

  • Triangle Properties: Pythagorean theorem applications, special/similar triangles, triangle centroids, and the strategic use of Ceva’s and Menelaus' theorems.
  • Circle Geometry: Intersecting chords, Power of a Point, tangents, inscribed and circumscribed circles, and Ptolemy’s Theorem for cyclic quadrilaterals.
  • Analytic & Coordinate Geometry: Distance formulas, linear/quadratic functions graphed on the Cartesian plane, and coordinate circle functions.
  • 3D Spatial Geometry: Calculating volume, surface area, and complex internal diagonals of 3D shapes and polygons.

Module 3: Number Theory

A highly tested area on the AMC 10 that is rarely covered in standard classrooms. This module trains students in pure integer logic.

  • Primes & Divisibility: Advanced divisibility rules, prime factorization, finding the exact number of factors, GCD, LCM, and the Euclidean Algorithm.
  • Modular Arithmetic: Solving linear congruences, applying Euler's Totient Theorem, and utilizing the Chinese Remainder Theorem.
  • Advanced Computation: Base-k number systems, factorials, repeating decimals, and finding the last digits of massive exponents.
  • Diophantine Equations: Strategic methods for solving complex equations requiring strict integer solutions.

Module 4: Combinatorics, Counting & Probability

Trains students to efficiently count massive data sets and calculate complex probability scenarios using established competitive frameworks.

  • Fundamental Counting: Permutations, combinations, linear and circular permutations, and the Rule of Product.
  • Advanced Combinatorics: The Stars and Bars method, Pigeonhole Principle, Principle of Inclusion-Exclusion, and derangements.
  • Probability Frameworks: Multiplying probabilities, conditional probability, and expected value scenarios.
  • Binomial Expansion: The Binomial Theorem, Multinomial Theorem, Pascal’s Triangle, and the Hockey Stick identity.

How to Target the AMC 10 Successfully

Knowledge alone is insufficient for the AMC 10; execution is everything. At EduGlobal Institute, we integrate the Syamabal Learning Software to provide a rigorous, data-driven preparation environment.

  • The 6-Quiz Reinforcement Protocol: To prevent the "illusion of competence," students must pass six progressively difficult quizzes after every module. The system requires proven retention before advancing to new material.
  • Strategic Exam Pacing: 25 questions in 75 minutes leaves zero room for hesitation. We train students to quickly identify problem archetypes and implement the most efficient solving pathways.
  • Meta-Solving & Scoring Tactics: The AMC 10 awards 1.5 points for an unanswered question and 0 points for an incorrect one. Blind guessing destroys scores. Through full-length timed mock exams, we teach the mathematical discipline of knowing exactly when to solve, when to use estimation techniques, and when to skip a problem to protect and maximize the final score.
