Before you start

Pattern. 75 questions, 300 marks, 180 minutes. Each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics has 20 multiple-choice questions (Section A) and 5 numerical-answer questions (Section B), for 100 marks per subject.

Marking. +4 for a correct answer, −1 for an incorrect answer, 0 if unattempted. Negative marking applies to Section B as well — numerical questions are not risk-free, and this is where unit and sign errors concentrate.

Section B is compulsory. All 5 numerical questions in each subject must be attempted. The “any 5 of 10” arrangement ended with the COVID-era papers.

Before you start. Phone in another room, single screen, no reference material. Sit the full 180 minutes in one session — a paper taken in pieces measures nothing.
